The CallRail problem
CallRail is excellent at what it does — dynamic number insertion, call recording, and detailed call analytics. But it starts at $45/month for a single number with limited minutes. If you're a small business that gets 30 calls a month from Google Ads, you're paying $1.50+ per tracked call on top of your ad spend.
For businesses that just need attribution — which ad drove which call — that's expensive for simple data.
What you actually need
Most businesses don't need call recording or AI call scoring. They need to know: did this Google Ads click turn into a phone call, and was that call a real lead? That's an attribution question, not an analytics question.
How Tagless handles phone tracking
Tagless detects phone number links on your site and captures the GCLID when someone taps a click-to-call button. The click is logged in your dashboard with the campaign, ad group, and keyword that drove it.
You then qualify whether that click became a real call and a real lead. Did they actually call? Was it a genuine enquiry? Mark it as qualified, and the conversion syncs to Google Ads.
It's not as feature-rich as CallRail — no call recording, no dynamic number insertion. But for attribution at a fraction of the price, it does the job.
